All within a few minutes' walk.
Self-service laundry right opposite Mergellina station, open around the clock, a short walk from the Loft. Instructions in English, coin exchange machine, detergent included in the wash. Roughly €4-6 for a wash, under €10 for wash and dry.
8am–8pm weekdays, 8am–2pm weekends. Friendly staff, English spoken.
Our favourite trattoria: honest, home-style Neapolitan cooking with no frills. The right place for your first taste of Naples. No reservations — best to arrive early.
Our pick for a more refined dinner: pleasant setting and well-chosen ingredients. Best to book at weekends.
Fresh fish in Mergellina, a few minutes on foot by the marina. Closed on Mondays; Tue–Sat 12:30–3pm and 7:30–11:30pm, Sunday lunch only. Book ahead: it is almost always full, even at lunch — by phone or WhatsApp, ideally a few days in advance. Worth trying: spaghetti with seafood alla Nerano, mixed fried fish from the gulf, the mixed grill. The staff do not speak English but manage perfectly by showing photos of the dishes — don't let it put you off.
A classic of Neapolitan cuisine: traditional dishes done properly. Works well for lunch too. It's in the centre, on Piazza Dante: from the Loft take Line 2 to Montesanto, then a short walk.
The pizzeria we recommend: light dough and quality toppings. It's over by Corso Garibaldi — perfect if you're near the station, and worth the trip anyway.
